Pacific Tuna Forum 12-14 September Port Moresby

With seven months untill the hosting of two essential events for the fisheries industry in Papua New Guinea, the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) has already showed their support as the co-host of these forums, alongside INFOFISH.    The Inaugural Pacific Seafood and Technology Exposition, and the Sixth Pacific Tuna Forum, will be held in Port Moresby on  September 12-14 , and will look to accommodate people from around the world to seeing what the Pacific can offer in the fisheries and seafood industry.    At the launching of the payments system and marketing website link for the events, National Fisheries Authority Board Chairman, Job Pomat, says it will be an opportunity for PNG and Pacific island based sea food suppliers to showcase their products and develop partnerships in order to meet market demands.    He said hosting these two events was the outcome of a challenge he had issued at the last Pacific Tuna Forum, for INFOFISH, NFA and other regional organisations t

Forum Election Teams in Indonesia and Nauru this Week

In keeping with its ongoing commitment to good governance and free and fair elections in the region, the Pacific Islands Forum will be participating in election related missions to Indonesia and Nauru this week. The Forum has received an invitation from the Chairman of Indonesia’s General Elections Commission to take part in the Election Visit Programme for the 2017 Indonesian Regional Head Elections, which take place on  Wednesday 15 February . The elections will see over one hundred regions within seven provinces across the country go to the polls. The Forum team will observe electoral activity in Jayapura and Manokwari in the provinces of Papua and West Papua. Secretary General of the Pacific Islands, Dame Meg Taylor accepted the invitation saying “The Pacific region and Indonesia share a belief in the principles of good governance and fair and free elections.  I’m sure there is much we can learn from the third largest democracy in the world.” The Forum team will compri
