Speaking
to participants on this occasion, MASI CEO, Ms Hilda Lamani said ‘this meeting
is very important for MASI especially hearing from the Public Relation Officers
and Communication Officers the challenges they face in their working
environment.
“With
MASI’s aim to strengthen the independence and capability of media in the
country, the feedback will help us to understand the needs of the media and how
we can move together to communicate to the public effectively. This will also
strengthen and improve working relationships between the private and
public-sector communication channels’.
Ms
Lamani said, “People in the country rely heavily on the media to understand
current issues in our community, personal security and to be aware of what is
happening around them in order to make better choices in their daily lives.’
Ms
Lamani said MASI Secretariat is optimistic that MASI is on the right path to
addressing the challenges faced by the media as its main purpose is to help
strengthen their independence and capability.
MASI,
since the establishment of an administrative office, is working closely with
stakeholders to highlight the issues faced by the media industry.
The
dialogue session is an initiative that is hoped to pave the way for future
collaboration and understanding between the media and its stakeholders.
