HEALTH MINISTER CALLS FOR STRONGER SURVEILLANCE IN WESTERN AND CHOISEUL PROVINCES

BY GEORGINA KEKEA

Health Minister, Dickson Mua has called for the strengthening of surveillance in Western and Choiseul provinces as part of the ongoing joint multisectoral approach in which the Health Ministry is engaged in with other partner ministries.

When in Western province, Minister Mua says the easy mobility and movement between Choiseul, Western and Bouganville also bring cross border health issues including outbreaks of disease.

Mua says there is an urgency to strengthen the country’s preparedness plans and surveillance systems in Western and Choiseul provinces.

The Health Minister also reemphasized the issues of Drugs and Medical supplies and strongly mentioned the Government would not want to go through the experience of 2018 again.
